Health Tests and Preventive Measures:

Wet Noses Rescue is committed to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care. Our veterinary partner, Wet Noses Vet Clinic, plays a pivotal role in providing exceptional care.

Intake Procedure

Snap 4DX Test:

Upon intake, each dog undergoes a comprehensive Snap 4DX test, screening for common tickborne and mosquito-borne illnesses. Positive results trigger immediate treatment, a crucial step given the prevalence of tickborne illnesses in the climate and conditions of dogs rescued in Mexico. While this thorough testing increases our care costs, we firmly believe in the importance of preventive measures to safeguard the long-term health of our animals.

Bloodwork Profiles:

CBC (Complete Blood Count):
- Ensures a holistic health assessment.
- Any abnormalities are promptly evaluated and treated with precision.
Chem Profile Bloodwork:
- Assesses the well-being of the dog’s liver, kidneys, and pancreas.
- Specialized diets and targeted treatments are provided based on comprehensive bloodwork analysis.
Dewormer:
- Internal deworming completed for all new intakes, as well as routine deworming for shelter animals.

Vet Care Prior to Adoption:

Spay/Neutered:
- All dogs are spay/neutered
Vaccination
- Our vaccination process for dogs is meticulous, covering rabies, leptospirosis, distemper, parvovirus, kennel cough, canine adenovirus, and canine parainfluenza virus.
Nexgard Spectra:
- Monthly administration of Nexgard Spectra ensures protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworm.
Microchips:
- Each dog is microchipped, and upon adoption, microchips are registered to the adopters, offering a lifetime of secure identification.

Pre-Adoption Exam:

Prior to adoption, all animals undergo a comprehensive examination by our veterinarians within one week. This ensures that the pets are in optimal health at the time of adoption.
