FAQ

I am interested in adopting/learning more about/meeting one of your dogs. What should I do?

To begin, please complete an adoption application. We cannot arrange any discussions or meetings until this step is finalized.

What is the cost of adopting one of your dogs/cats?

We don’t sell our animals, as we operate as a 501c3 Non-Profit Rescue. Instead, we request an adoption donation for each animal, which helps offset the expenses incurred during their veterinary care. Most of our animals undergo extensive rehabilitation, as the harsh conditions on the streets of Mexico take a toll on these resilient souls. Our fees typically range from $200-$800, depending on the specific animal. The adoption fee covers the initial year of vaccinations, spaying/neutering, flea/tick treatment, and medical clearance before adoption.

Do you offer animal transportation services?

Our operations are primarily based in Punta de Mita, Mexico, with an extension in San Diego. Understanding the potential hurdles posed by geographical distances, we have streamlined our adoption process to ensure a smooth and fulfilling experience. While most of our animals are housed at our shelter in Punta de Mita, we frequently arrange transportation for animals throughout the US and Canada. In cases where in-person visits are not feasible, we provide additional photographs, videos, and can even organize video calls to help you get acquainted with our animals.

For transportation, our animals usually flies out from the Puerto Vallarta airport directly to to you, considering its proximity to your location. While the journey can be lengthy, we prioritize ensuring a seamless transition for our animals. You can refer to our Google Reviews for firsthand accounts from our adoptive families. As a volunteer-run organization, we often collaborate with flight angels to facilitate these journeys. Given the tourist-friendly nature of our surroundings, many individuals actively contribute to our cause by volunteering in various capacities, supporting our community and the welfare of these deserving animals. Generally, securing flights typically takes us between 1 to 4 weeks once an animal is prepared for their new home.

What does the application process entail?

To initiate the process, kindly submit your application via our website: https://wetnosesrescue.org/all-pets/. Once we receive your application, we’ll proceed with a home check. This check may be conducted either in person or through a video call. Our team will assess the designated sleeping area for your future pet, the intended location for their food bowl, the potential interactions with any existing pet siblings, if applicable, and also evaluate any outdoor spaces that would be accessible to the pet.

I noticed an animal on your website, but I was informed that they are not currently available. Could you please provide some clarification?

Once our animals are in the process of being adopted, we make every effort to promptly update the website. However, please bear in mind that as a volunteer-based organization, there might be some delay in updating the information. We sincerely strive to keep the site as up-to-date as possible.
